Journey of Self and Social Awareness : Sudha, Gramya Manthan '12

Something about the world begins to see transformation as its citizens start to show belief in change. Sudha Arunachalam, an alumnus of Gramya Manthan, a Youth Alliance initiative has not just shown belief but has also backed her belief through actions. Working currently with Pravah, Sudha is engaging with the youths trying to take them through a journey of self and social awareness in an attempt to make them more responsible citizens.

She found her way into our family through her congenial smile and her power to empathize made us believe that she will be going a long way in her endeavors. About her experience at YA, Sudha says, “Gramya Manthan happened at the right point of time in my life. Some of the core values which I hold close to my heart now & forever trace their roots back to Youth Alliance. I learnt what it is to 'work for people' and 'work with people' means. The environment helped me cultivate the habit to think and reflect. Above all it brought out the true Me from within. The churning within me which started during GM still continues.”

She further wants to create spaces where YA alumni can come and engage and the YA team can continue to shower the same love and support.

In the time to come Sudha wants to work at villages focusing on local solutions which help in making the villages self-reliant. She also aims to explore and practice sustainability as a way of living.  With the hope of achieving what she aims for, we wish Sudha all the love and luck.
