Creating environment for Participatory Communication: Prahlad,LTC Spring '12

Hope, they say, is a waking dream. 

It was with this hope and immense passion that Prahlad joined us for our program Lead the Change, Spring in March 2012. Following the experience of LTC, Prahlad Immediately joined Goonj.

While working there, he also went on to initiate UDAY Knowledge Centre (Universal Development Action for Youth) which is based on the belief that every village should have a Knowledge Centre. Up until now Prahlad and his team have started a center in Raigarh, Chattisgarh linked with a private high school. In 2014, they are looking forward to opening up a few more 'Knowledge Centers' or 'Reading Corners' in schools.

UDAY envisions an informed society with a global knowledge base where every individual will have equal opportunities to fulfill their needs and to accomplish sustainable growth and achieve excellence in life.
We want to create an environment for participatory communication thus enabling youth to work for community development.

About his association with Youth Alliance, Prahlad says, -"Youth Alliance provided us the platform where we could ask the questions that came to our mind and have long discussions on social change and development issues which ultimately helped in broadening my horizons of knowledge and opportunities to work in development sector. It also gave me the opportunity to meet social leaders which would otherwise have been very difficult."

As a long term goal,his organization plans to set up knowledge centers across major villages in Chattisgarh. These learning centers will educate the youth about all forms of media, its key benefits and harms, hold discussions on social change and development issues and establish more favorable setting for rural development initiatives of NGO’s and Government Organizations. The larger idea and goal is to offer the best opportunities to the learner and facilitate their transitions into becoming more creative, confident, committed and competent individuals. We wish him all the best for this step of his and also help him in any which way we can.
