7-Day Kindness Experiment: Day 1

If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else. -Booker T. Washington

The Idea: Kick off the Kindness Experiment by taking the time to write a note of appreciation for someone. Maybe a classmate has been extra stressed with exams, or a roommate has been going through a rough patch. Perhaps you have a friend whose presence is like a sunbeam in your life, or a family member whose unconditional support means the world to you. Appreciate this person by writing him or her a note of gratitude and inspiration. Your simple words of goodwill could land like royalty in their heart. After all, an act of kindness, no matter how small, is never wasted.

  1. Shikha says:
'So I wrote two notes of appreciation today for the two most important people of my life. My sister and my boyfriend. My sister read the long note and asked me jokingly if I need something from her, and even that if the sun sets in the opposite direction today! But she kept smiling, even her eyes, and I knew that she liked it. It made my heart strangely relieved. Kindness is a medicine, surely.
Then the other very long one I wrote for my boyfriend. He read it and he couldn't stop smiling. He asked me if I really wrote it and I was like, ""what do you think?'' He was delighted. I felt kind of happy. It was like making your loved one's happy makes you equally happy. :) we can do this everyday. Being kind can be taken into a habit. It changes life. :) '

  2. I have been visitng Sanskriti Kendra (near Gurgaon) since last three years. It is a beautiful place surrounded by trees and greenery. Raja Ram bhaiya is the person looks after food preparation and offers us really good and healthy food. This time when I visited the place, he came and said, "Bhaiya, you have come after a long time." He did remembered our short conversations that we had in kitchen few years back.

Yesterday, after reading the kindness challenge, I remembered him and it that happened that I was at there only. I wrote a small note, hugged him and gave it to him last night. We both felt so happy and there was a sense gratitude in both of us. Some feeling are just so communicable and words are not needed at all :)

Small acts make a huge difference:)

"My friend, childhood classmate is appearing for SSB today. He is a wonderful person, amazingly talented and extreme hard worker. But he is over pessimistic and low on confidence. He neither trusts himself, nor anyone else.
But this interview for NDA, was something serious. As he is not from that affluent family, his job in defence services could make a difference in life of his whole family. Also, our country need such officers who are able and hardworking. But for that, that 'Manish' needs some belief in himself as to raise his confidence and for that appreciation, I uploaded a facebook status and called him wishing him luck and showing my faith in him.
His reporting time is today: 2 p.m.
I hope he passes with flying colours.
    Godbless. #goodluckmanish :) "
