Leadership Developement Program: Shiksharth, Sukma

At Shiksharth, our workshop was with Shiksharth fellows and few team members of 'Bachpan Banao' in Dantewada. Shiksharth fellows are placed in 'Portacabin' (residential schools) that would be 15-30 kms from the district center. Fellows who hailed from mostly smaller cities were quite courageous to stay with the staff sharing a room and being with the children 24*7 - the area wouldn't have much outside the campus of a potacabin, sometimes no network too.

One of the key themes that was shared several times was that no one from outside has come to do a program here - Youth Alliance is the first. Another person shared how he did not observe his relationship with his own self as deeply as he did through the program. While, the time was too less - but for the time we had it was an amazing experience. For work that often can be synonymised with lonely battles most people felt it was good to really be with each other listening to common challenges, feeling like a community and looking at the future with more hope.
