The Hope of Mountains
Contributor: Priyanshi Singhal
Last few days have passed either dreaming about the trekking and the mountains or smiling randomly with the thought of glimpses of Yatra. As already shared in circle my excitement for Padyatra started and grew with each call I had with you all and when few of them shared despite of me being the stranger for them.
Travelling with almost without ticket overnight and no sleep to Bus getting broke down at Ambala being the start. Waiting for 2 hours on the roads of Chandigarh and having Divya Deedee's cake. When after planning with Nancy for numerous times about when and where she would join, it seemed like the bus broke only so that she could join us in Solan and continue her journey with us.
Reaching the destination for the day and already overwhelmed with the people being so kind and supportive. And the first circle in the mountains of Nauradhar. "The story of atom by and the realization how each step we take has a effect on nature, the views of the mountains I wish to climb one day and the winds crossing my ears". Everything seemed surreal around.
Asking Shashank numerous times about whether we will get the snow and the weather forecast about the rains and hails, I was almost filled with excitement and also fear being in the group when Dada told about getting snow in the path and other difficulties.
My question about how Padyatra could be different from Trekking was answered when I saw the Sethji Gang, initially being the front liners came on an equal pace to walk with others in the most difficult path of snow and rocks and helping them. When Arnav came running in the mountains to call guide for the medicine, after hearing the stories about the two ladies being unconscious and how entire group came together offering with whatever help they could, arranging woolens, shawls and towels to cover them up, when Shashank almost became a porter and others were carrying two bags for the sake of others despite of being so difficult for them. Also when 20 people adjusted themselves in a single room with no question and whatever space and blankets they got.
When Harsh inspite of having severe headache didn't refuse to massage others.
When Reema dee, Havisha didn't gave up on us.
How none of us wished to reach first but together with a community.
I still remember when we all were trying to sleep in different room and no-one dared to say a word thinking everyone is asleep but when Nancy finally spoke about how much cold it is, everyone woke up looking for alternatives and Shubhi DeeDee asked us to come in a single room and we could all sit together.
Coming back home I could just see the Yatra as a Magical and a Powerful journey and being in quite a few treks i am sure that this journey wouldn't have been possible if it was some other professional trekking group with same people as Yatris.
With the hope of Mountains would never disappoint me....
